Sales Page Checklist
Complete your sales page with confidence๐งพ How to Use the Sales Page Checklist Tool
Hey there! ๐ I'm excited to show you this sales page checklist tool that I built. Whether you're a marketer, a copywriter, or a business owner, you know that launching a sales page without a proper checklist is like cooking without a recipe — you might get lucky, but you'll probably forget something important.
This tool is designed to help you track every single element your sales page needs. From the headline to the call-to-action, from social proof to mobile optimization — it's all here. And the best part? It lives right in your browser, so you can use it anytime, anywhere.
I've created countless sales pages over the years, and I kept missing small but critical elements. So I built this sales page checklist to save time, reduce stress, and make sure every page I launch is fully optimized. Now I'm sharing it with you!
1. Getting Started — Your Dashboard
When you open the tool, you'll see a clean dashboard with a progress bar at the top and a grid of category cards below. Each category represents a key area of your sales page — like Headline & Copy, Social Proof, Call to Action, and more.
(Categories, progress bar, and action buttons)
The progress bar at the top gives you a quick snapshot of your overall completion. It shows:
- Total items — how many checklist items you have across all categories.
- Completed — how many you've already checked off.
- Percentage — your overall progress at a glance.
The progress bar updates in real-time. Every time you check or uncheck an item, the bar moves instantly. It's super satisfying to watch that number climb!
2. Working with Categories
Each category card focuses on a specific part of your sales page. I've pre-loaded the tool with categories like:
But here's the cool part — you can add your own categories too! Just click the "Add Category" button in the top-right corner, give it a name, and the tool will automatically assign a color and icon based on the name you choose. Pretty neat, right?
3. Managing Checklist Items
Inside each category, you'll see a list of checklist items. Here's how you interact with them:
✅ Check / Uncheck an Item
Just click on any item to toggle it between checked and unchecked. When you check an item, it gets crossed out with a nice line-through effect, and the checkbox fills with a beautiful blue-green gradient. The progress bar updates instantly.
You can also use your keyboard — press the Spacebar on a focused item to toggle it. I've made sure the tool works great with keyboard navigation for accessibility.
๐️ Delete an Item
Hover over any item and you'll see a small ✕ (delete) button appear on the right. Click it to remove that item from the list. On keyboard, you can press Delete or Backspace when an item is focused.
➕ Add a New Item
At the bottom of each category card, there's an input field and an "Add" button. Type in your custom checklist item and click Add (or press Enter) — it'll be added to that category immediately. You can add as many items as you need for your specific sales page.
I like to go through each category and check off items as I build my sales page. If I think of something that's not on the list, I just add it right then and there. This way, my sales page checklist grows with my project and never misses a beat.
4. Export & Import — Never Lose Your Progress
This is one of my favorite features. Let's say you're working on a sales page today, but you need to pause and come back tomorrow. Or maybe you want to share your checklist with a teammate.
The tool gives you two superpowers:
- ๐ฅ Export — Click the "Export" button and the tool will download a JSON file containing your entire checklist. All your categories, all your items, and all your progress are saved.
- ๐ค Import — Click "Import", paste your JSON data, and boom — your checklist is restored exactly as you left it. Perfect for moving between devices or sharing with your team.
Even if you don't export manually, the tool automatically saves your checklist in your browser's local storage. So if you close the page and come back later, your progress is still there. I've got your back!
5. Reset to Default
Sometimes you just want a fresh start. Maybe you've been experimenting with a checklist and you want to go back to the original template. Click the "Reset" button and the tool will restore the default sales page checklist with all the pre-loaded categories and items.
⚠️ A quick heads-up — resetting will delete all your custom items and changes. The tool will ask for confirmation before doing anything, so you won't lose your work by accident.
6. Keyboard Shortcuts to Speed You Up
I'm a big fan of keyboard shortcuts, so I've added a few to make your life easier:
- Ctrl + Shift + R — Reset the checklist to default (with confirmation).
- Ctrl + E — Export your checklist as a JSON file.
- Ctrl + I — Open the import modal to restore a saved checklist.
- Spacebar — Toggle an item when it's focused.
- Delete / Backspace — Delete an item when it's focused.
- Escape — Close the import modal if you change your mind.
These shortcuts are totally optional, but once you get used to them, you'll fly through your checklist!
7. Real-World Use Cases
So, how can you use this sales page checklist in the real world? Here are a few scenarios I've personally used it for:
- Launching a new product: I go through the checklist before hitting "publish" to make sure I haven't missed anything. It's saved me from embarrassing mistakes more times than I can count.
- Auditing an existing page: Sometimes I run the checklist against a live sales page to see what's missing or what can be improved. It's like having a second pair of eyes.
- Team collaboration: I export the checklist and share it with my copywriter or designer so we're all on the same page about what needs to be done.
- Client projects: I use the checklist as a deliverable to show clients everything that went into their sales page. It builds trust and demonstrates value.
I keep the sales page checklist open in a separate tab while I'm building a page. As I complete each section, I check off the items. By the time I'm done, the progress bar shows 100% — and I know my page is ready to convert. It gives me total peace of mind.
8. Why This Tool Works So Well
I've used a lot of checklists over the years — spreadsheets, Notion pages, sticky notes — but this tool is different because:
- It's visual: The progress bar and category cards give you an instant sense of where you stand. You don't have to dig through rows of data.
- It's flexible: You're not locked into my categories. Add your own, delete what you don't need, and make it your own.
- It's fast: Everything happens in real-time. No page reloads, no waiting. Just click and go.
- It's portable: Export and import means you can take your checklist anywhere.
- It's free: No sign-ups, no subscriptions, no hidden costs. It's just a tool that lives in your browser and works for you.
